You Might be a Lame DJ if
Well I wrote a post about Lame artists the other day and thought I might as well follow it up by exposing all the lame so called and self named DJs. I will do it this time without naming any names but if some of you Lame djs don’t clean up your act and change your ways then I will have to reveal your names and basically end your worthless career. And once again if you do not like what I am saying then you can do what Jadakiss said and Kiss my ass. Click to listen
1. You might be a Lame DJ if You don’t have your own DJ set up – Just using a computer to put together a playlist does not make you a DJ. If you are DJing with just a laptop and nothing more then you are not a DJ.
2. You might be a Lame DJ if You are placing datpiss logos on your mixtapes – You are a lame DJ if you are doing this. You will not find one top DJ doing this unless they pay him to do it. I will name names next time.
3.You might be a Lame DJ if You are playing any tracks by Lady GaGa or Lil Wayne in the club – You are Lame and a total sellout and possibly a cross dresser and someone needs to throw you out of the DJ booth and whip your ass.
4. You might be a Lame DJ if You are releasing mixtapes with homemade covers that look like crap. If you are too cheap to get a professional cover done then you are not serious about your DJ career and you will remain a Lame DJ.
5, You might be a Lame DJ if You are charging Indie artists for slots to get on your Lame mixtapes. If you look hard enough you might find a Indie artist dumb enough to pay you to get on your mixtape. Indie artists need to seek out top flite DJs to get mixtape placement , Top DJs don’t do the slot advertising only the nobody Lame Djs do that.
6. You might be a Lame DJ if You don’t step outside the box and try and break new artists. Nobody respects the DJ that just plays the same old songs.
7. You might be a Lame DJ if You are repping low budget DJ cliques Like Coast2Coast – Im sorry there is only one DJ on their whole roster that is a somebody. This DJ Clique is not even ran by a DJ it is set up to make the wannabe rapper owner money. Everything about their low budget clique is Lame. . You won’t find many top DJs putting that green logo on their mixtapes. I know I will hear some hate over this one but you can refer to the Jadakiss song up above and Kiss my ass.
8. You might be a Lame DJ if You are Promoting Datpiss as a place to download your Mixtapes. This site does nothing free for the DJs and makes a lot of money off the DJs and artists. I will reveal exactly how much money they make in a upcoming post. If you are posting and promoting this site then you are a stupid LAME DJ.
9. You might be a Lame DJ if You don’t work on your craft and learn how to mix songs and blend songs and rock a crowd. There is more to DJing then putting a itunes play list together.
10. You might be a Lame DJ if You do not keep track of new music. If you are playing the same music they play on the radio in the clubs then you are at least 3 months behind the new music.
11. You might be a Lame DJ if You do not know how to use a turntable. I understand some of you young DJs grew up with Cds and computers, but this is no excuse for not learning how to use a turntable to DJ with. You should be able to use and do it all if you are loyal to learning the ins and outs of being a real DJ. If you don’t know then ask a veteran DJ to teach you.
I taught my son to dj on 1200′s using serato now he uses virtual as both a dj and a club owner Im not gonna knock any one’s hustle without first understanding that the game has changed and if we ole G’s dont adapt and embrace change you will not grow professionally. I Embrace technology use the extra time saved in the mixing process to tweet and get facebook friends.The technolgy as change and now anyone with a laptop can put dj in front of thier names and call them self a dj Ive even had to teach them to scan for bpms because even with auto sincc they were messing up mixes . I filled in for a friend and got to the club they paid me $50 i smiled and spent it at the bar the 3 hours i played so i cant knock djs for charging for spins on independent songs especially if it distract from your set and you have to talk it up. Djs in my area average $75 to $150 a night so they charge for slots because thats the cost of doing business. I charge $300 per slot but i put 2k in every mistape both on and off line. peace and lets teach these new djs what we know while at the same time learning and using this technology to keep creativity going and yes i will mix your indie song between 2 lil wayne songs if the crowd likes lil wanyne and lady gaga you god damn right imma play it ADMIN We were with you until the end where you became a sellout and said you would play lady gaga and lil wayne FOH and get your ass out the booth and what kinda club are you DJing in that listen to that bullshit
Ima C2C DJ. I listen to Big Wig DJ MixTapes and feel disrespected w what they put out. I mean aint ish Mixed, sound effects feel in the Unmixed tracks, my son cld do what they do. I take Pride in having at least 3 or 4 actual Blends on all my Tapes. I use CD turntables. No Laptop, jus a Pile of CDs w Names on em.

W.O.W I agree with Fade totally to many wack as dj’s and too many people co signing them. I have been arguing this point for years now, it’s a epadimic,and only getting worse.

I’ve been DJing since I was in the 7th grade…wayyyyyyyy back, so all in all, about 26 years total. I started out on vinyl, and listening to cuts and scratches by cats like DJ Jazzy Jeff, Eric B, Terminator X, Marley Marl, Grandmaster Caz, and others is how I learned to cut. I just tried to do what they did. A long stint in the military and in da pokey took some of what I knew from me, and now, I spin using a laptop and mix module with two big ass jogwheels. Ain’t the same as vinyl Lord knows, but everything else is there IF you a real DJ. Fuck playlists and Top 40. I play what’s hot in the streets, and what keeps da party jumpin’, sweatin’, and forgettin’ about doing anything else except grindin’, jerkin’, havin’ a good time, and maybe tappin’ some ass after the lights come on. Props to all REAL DJs.

That Dude Fade Just Exposed alotta Lames Right Quick. I Agree With this list except for Number 3. Personally I fux with the homie Weezy, he from my hometown so im gon stand up for the boot ya dig it feels good to go to another city and hear music comin from my way , and as far as ya girl, if you could play some gaga in the hood and have the crowd rockin to it, then you a beast on them tables.
I just cannot play as effectively on nothing else besides the my beloved 1200s. It’s what I learned on and is the most fun (gotta have fun while spinning.) #9 is the kicker for me…if you can’t rock a crowd, why dj?
@tojo some C2C DJs have tapes on this too…and what’s the beef with C2C? They don’t have nothing to do with the beef between “datpiss” and thatcrack! That’s like when Fat Joe got mad at Papoose for doing an interview wit 50…why stop MY business for YOUR beef? And last I checked, C2C’s website is worth 7 figures…not low budget at all. I support C2C AND thatcrack.com.

Oh yeah. Amen for the mixtape slots post. Artists need to start doing their research before paying a DJ for a mixtape slot. Just because they are affiliated with a certain coalition doesn’t mean anything if they can’t break your music. Gotten plenty of emails, texts and tweets from DJs from XYZ org that asking for money for hosting and mixtape slots.

Well said and I am glad someone is speaking out against what’s going on. I might get back into DJing and wanna learn all the basics but I also speak for the indy artist/label side of things and I approve this list.

Mixtape djs n club djs are two different grinds so comparing them is like comparing tupc and biggie two different waves.. Let people who love music grind mind your own. I respect any dj willing to go hard for their love of music some people get stuck in the past it apprenhends your future new times new hiphop new grinds wake up!
