I dont know how I missed this as it happened last sunday, but Dolemite the first person to ever spit rhymes over a beat passed away. Stand up comedian Rudy Ray Moore, also known as “Dolemite” moved to Cleveland at 15, was a precursor of rap that helped shape today’s hip-hop, his movies and records were black rhymed storytelling over a beat in which the tallest tale – or most outlandish insult – wins. Check the Video below of Dolemite Spitting the Famous The Signified Monkey

Rudy Starred in the 1975 film “Dolemite” and its sequel, “The Human Tornado,” and “Petey Wheatstraw”, aka the Devil’s Son-in-Law were some old minstrel show favorites. Moore died 10/18/08 in Akron, Ohio. He was 81.
