TI Going to prison in Arkansas

Hip Hop recording star T.I. is set to turn himself in to authorities toward the end of this month but, not in Georgia as believed T.I will instead spend time in Arkansas for his own protection.

According to a release issued Friday, the “Live Your Life” rapper is due to check-in at Forrest City Arkansas’ low security prison May 26 where he’ll join roughly 1,500 inmates. There the Georgia based rapper will serve time related to federal weapons charges after avoiding a 10 year prison sentence through a combination of community service, house detention and probationary agreements. Word on the streets and in every hood is T.I snitched and or paid off everyone involved in the case to get such a short term to avoid a long prison term. We at HipHopSpy have no opinion, we just know that the average person caught buying that many machine guns from the feds would be locked up for 20 years plus.

T.I Releases Statement regarding Alfamega the Snitch

T.I. addressed the exposure of Grand Hustle artist Alfamega’s past as an informant for the Drug Enforcement Agency via statement yesterday.

T.I., who is the CEO of Grand Hustle, released a recorded statement, saying the following:

“Even though all of our artists and employees are asked by us to be honest and open about their past history at no time did Alfa disclose to me or Grand Hustle what has now appeared in the media. He essentially deceived us by failing to fully disclose the truth about his past and there is no place in our organization for dishonest and misleading behavior. As I’ve always said, you must take responsibility for your own actions, we at Grand Hustle do not support or condone blaming others for our own mistakes. I hope and pray to God bless his financial plans but I do not foresee me or my company playing the role of his personal or professional business.”

As previously reported, The Smoking Gun revealed documents indicating that Alfamega, real name Ced Zellers, obtained a plea deal to shorten a 1995 jail sentence on federal drug charges.

The report shows that Alfamega testified against a heroin dealer, among other criminals, in exchange for having a 110-month sentence reduced by 18 months.

As of now, Alfamega has not released a statement on the situation.

T.I to be sentenced and jailed today

Federal weapons charges, with their accompanying harsh sentences, are enough to take down anyone.

Yet since his guilty plea a year ago, Atlanta rapper T.I. has enjoyed the greatest success of his career.

But one of the world’s best-known rap artists is due to take a one-year hiatus at a federal detention facility.

According to the plea agreement, T.I., whose real name is Clifford Harris Jr., will be sentenced today to one year and a day.

The extra day means T.I. can carve 15 percent off his sentence with good behavior. Under U.S. Bureau of Prison rules, inmates can earn such credit only if they are sentenced to longer than a year in prison. T.I. should serve an estimated 298 days — or a little less than 10 months. He is expected to get credit for the two weeks he sat in jail after his arrest and before posting a $3 million bond.

T.I.’s troubles began Oct. 13, 2007, just hours before he was to receive two awards at the BET Hip-Hop Awards ceremony in Atlanta. He was arrested in a Midtown parking lot by federal agents for trying to buy machine guns and silencers. T.I. pleaded guilty to illegal firearms possession and being a convicted felon with a firearm.

Federal sentencing guidelines recommended T.I. serve at least four years and nine months behind bars.

But T.I.’s defense team worked out an unheard of deal with federal prosecutors: If T.I. would perform at least 1,000 hours of community service, telling kids about the pitfalls of crime, drugs and gangs and encouraging them to respect the law, he could surrender to the Bureau of Prisons a year later and get a reduced sentence.

Area criminal defense lawyers howled in protest, saying T.I. traded his celebrity for leniency. Federal prosecutors countered the rapper’s influential message would help prevent crime.

T.I. has fulfilled his part of the bargain, said Steve Sadow, one of the rapper’s lawyers.

“T.I. took this opportunity and ran with it beyond anyone’s expectations.”

A sentencing memorandum filed Wednesday by T.I.’s defense team says the rapper has complied with all the requirements of his plea agreement. This includes serving 300 days of home confinement, attending more than 260 events and earning 1,006 hours of community service credit.

T I Denies being a snitch

As he prepares for his scheduled prison bid on March 27, T.I. is putting rumors of snitching to get a reduced sentence to bed as well. Accusations began in June of 2008, when 50 Cent took what many believed to be some subliminal shots at Tip on the Terminate on Sight cut “You So Tough”.

Speculation worsened after T.I. appeared in a Georgia Crime Stoppers commercial, on the heels of his testimony in the case against a man who killed his friend and personal assistant Philant Johnson.

In an exclusive interview with Vibe magazine, “The King” challenged anyone questioning how he managed to get such a light sentence despite being caught illegally buying weapons as a convicted felon.

“Ain’t no such thing as a secret snitch,” T.I. said. “If there was there’d be no need for the witness protection program. Pull up my agreement. It’s public record. Ain’t no way you could hide it, especially being a public figure. And as much as people saying that it is happening, don’t you think somebody would have did the research to say, ‘Okay look, we got proof, here it is?’ People just know that it could have been a lot worse and they wanted it to be a lot worse, but lies will never overrule the truth.” We at Hiphopspy dont know if he snitched, but nobody gets that light of a sentence for those kind of charges unless one of two things happens. One you snitched or two the Judge got paid off.
