50 Cent and Freeway Reach out to the Real Rick Ross
Shortly after finishing a 14-year prison sentence former drug kingpin “Freeway” Ricky Ross revealed that one of the first people to reach out to him was rapper 50 Cent.
“50 Cent called me the day I got out and let me know if there was anything I needed to just let him know,” said Ross during his interview. “I don’t know how he got my cell but the morning I got out he called me and expressed his support.”
And according to Ross, he has yet to hear from Miami rapper Rick Ross although he has in fact heard from rapper Freeway since his release from prison in September of this year.
“Freeway reached out and told me anything I needed he had me but Rick Ross, he hasn’t reached out to me as of yet,” said Ross in a radio interview. “That’s not saying he won’t reach out one day. But as of right now, he hasn’t reached out.”
In his various interviews, Ross made it known that he has a number of projects in the works including four movies (one with comedian Mike Epps) and his own record label.

The Original “Freeway” Rick Ross has finally been released from Prison
The original “Freeway” Rick Ross
has finally been released from prison after serving 14 years on a 20-year sentence. The former drug baron was arrested in 1996 after attempting to buy 100 kilograms of cocaine from federal agents. “It feels superman [to be released], no question about it,” he said. “Life is wonderful. I can’t say much, they got a gag order on me.”
In the early 80s, Ross virtually monopolized the cocaine market in Los Angeles, making $2-3 million per week. However, his 20-year sentence was appealed after the San Jose Mercury News infamously outed the C.I.A. for its role in funding a Nicaraguan conflict by selling drugs to black communities.
Ross has also made public his contempt for Miami rapper, and namesake, Rick Ross for taking his name without permission.
“After seeing all the stuff that has been going on with the Correctional Officer that stole my name,” ‘Freeway’ Ricky Ross said [it makes me think back to a year and a half ago when we spoke. I tried to talk to him like a big brother and let him know to be you, and that he couldn’t be me.”
Ross reportedly plans to write a tell-all book soon
