Shyne Speaks For First Time Since Release

On Monday, just days after Shyne was deported to Belize ater a nine year prison sentence [click to read], the rapper is finally speaking up. However, his first words have not been given directly to the media, but to the students of the high school he once attended, Wesley College. Shyne, who has recently changed his name from Jamal Barrow to Moses Michael Levly, explained that he has not converted to Judaism as commonly reported, but that he now looks to Biblical figures for inspiration.

“In life, you are what you are and this is what I am,” he said. “I don’t want to be like Michael Jordan. I want to be like Moses or King David or King Solomon. Those are the guys I aspire to be like. I didn’t want to be like the kingpin on my block; I wanted to be like the guy who parted the sea, that’s why I chose that name.”

He also spoke about the importance of education, encouraging Wesley’s students to avoid the lure of street life. He used himself as an example of what could happen if children took that path.

“I came up on the streets with guys that gangbanged and were into criminal activity, and those tools never worked,” he said. “Those tools, you either end up spending the rest of your life in prison or sleeping in a grave. But with the tools that you are getting here as far as education is concerned, that is the ultimate tool and with that tool you can transcend any situation because I am just like you. I grew up on Curassow Street. When I was coming up we didn’t even have toilets. But one of the things my Uncle Finnegan and my father, Prime Minister Barrow, implored upon me was education, education, education, education.

“What I do have to say is not, ‘Listen man, I am on a gangster roll,’” he continued. “No, listen: Look what gangster roll got me. Look where it led me. And I am not telling you what to do because I am not a preacher and I am not everybody’s father, but I am exhibit A of what’s going to happen if you don’t stay in Wesley College. If you don’t go to that sixth form, if you don’t try to go to the university you’re going to spend the rest of your life in the cooker or you’re going to be in the grave. That is what this is about.”

He shared with reporters that he will be getting back to music, and that he wants to make music that will make a difference while staying true to what’s really going on in his community.

“I make music about life,” he said. “One of the greatest musicians was Bob Marley. There was nothing misogynistic about him. But his music, he talked about some harsh realities some time. He was tough. I would like to make that type of contribution, that kind of Marvin Gaye contribution, you dig? But at the same time we curse, at the same time life is violent, life is troublesome sometimes – so don’t expect my music to be sanitized. I am just going to talk about what’s going on in the world.”

Shyne and his legal team will continue to fight the deportation case, while working on his music.

Shyne said Diddy is a Liar and he never spoke with him

Incarcerated rapper Shyne has completely refuted Sean “Diddy” Combs’ claims that he and the Bad Boy Snitch had a conversation.

Shyne issued a stern statement via his lawyer.

“My client wants to make it very clear that no such conversation between Mr. Combs and he ever occurred,” said Oscar Michelen, Shyne’s attorney in a statement.

Shyne told his counsel, “I want it known that this supposed conversation is a figment of Sean Combs’ imagination. He never spoke with me, he never visited me nor would I ever accept a phone call or visit from him. The only way I would do either of those things would be if he stepped up and did the right thing for the victims of the incident.”

Michelen also countered saying that Shyne, who has been jailed for nine years, never mentioned the alleged conversation in their conversations.

“I was very surprised to hear Mr. Combs’ claims about talking with my client since I speak to Shyne all the time and he never mentioned anything about it, said Michelen. “Knowing how he feels about Mr. Combs I know that it would have been very strange for Shyne to have spoken with him and not told anyone.”

In an interview on Hot 97 with DJ Absolut, Diddy said, “It’s a blessing that Shyne is coming home. I spoke with him a couple weeks ago. He sounded like he was in good spirits. I know he can’t wait to get home. And I know he’s definitely gonna heat the whole scene up. He’s definitely gonna do it, you know what I’m saying, he definitely was one of the most talented young artists that I had the pleasure to work with so I’m quite sure he’s been using his time wisely and I’m quite sure he has some heat.”

Presently, Shyne, resides in Federal immigration detention until a judge decides if the Belize-bore rapper can still remain in the United States. He is jailed for an infamous 1999 Club New York shooting that had ties to both Diddy and then-girlfriend Jennifer Lopez.

Shyne has legally changed his name to Moses Levi.

A civil lawsuit surrounding the shooting is pending in Brooklyn Supreme Court.

Shyne to be released Today Oct 6

Today October 6 rapper Shyne will be released from prison after serving 9 years on assault and attempted murder charges.

At the time of his sentencing in 2001, Shyne has secured a gold debut album, and was poised to have a successful career run.

Sean “Diddy” combs spoke on Shyne release and their current relationship.

“Shyne is not signed to Bad Boy anymore,” Combs revealed. “I looked forward to this day. The whole situation was a tragic situation. He’s a young man that has a whole life ahead of him to live to be successful and to come out here and put his foot in the game.”

Like the initial bidding war that preceded his Bad Boy signing, Shyne’s new label home has been the subject of much media speculation.

Mogul Jay-Z denied meeting with the rapper, but acknowledged a Roc nation signing was a “possibility” and there would likely be a future meeting.

On this matter, Diddy offered clarity on whether there would be further music projects between the two.

“I don’t have anything to do with his personal business or his career,”. “As far as our relationship, only time will tell.”

Shyne, born Jamal Barrow, was sentenced to the lengthy stint in prison after a violent shootout inside of Club New York, while he attended a party with Combs and Combs’ then girlfriend, Jennifer Lopez.

Both he and Combs stood trial for the shooting. Combs was acquitted during the sensational trial, while Shyne was found guilty. Diddy basically put Shyne in prison and did not get him a Lawyer.

According to Shyne’s lawyer, Oscar Michelin, the rapper is required to complete two and a half years of probation per a special request from New York’s Correction Department.

We at HipHopSpy welcome home Shyne. As for Diddy he might want to go into hiding.

Shyne to be Released October 6th Possibly Signing to Jay Z

Shortly after 2:30 p.m. eastern standard time today (August 4th), Shyne learned that he will only be receiving the minimum parole term that he could have been sentenced to.

“The judge sentenced him to the minimum time of post release supervision, which is what we wanted,” Shyne’s attorney, Oscar Michelen, said this afternoon. “He gave him two-and-a-half year], which was the minimum. The D.A. had requested the maximum, five years Shyne got a chance to address the court today. He did address the court and asked the court to consider not giving him any post release supervision at all. But the court said that it was obligated to do so. And the judge pointed out that he agreed with our argument and so he’s gonna give us the minimum… And we’re just thankful that the court read our sentencing memorandums and agreed with our position. We now wait for his release, which should be October 6th.”

Mr. Michelen further explained that while Shyne now will not have to deal with the much more lengthy five-year parole term, he may still have to contend with some restrictions that might be placed on him for the next two-and-a-half years.

[The parole board will decide any restrictions," he noted. "The usual parameters are you can't leave the state without prior permission. If you change your address you have to give them notice. You can be randomly drug tested. They could even search your home randomly without notice. And the most important parameter of parole is if you were to commit a crime, or get re-arrested for anything, you can face jail for the full two-and-a-half years of your PRS [post release supervision].”

Even with these restrictions placed on him, Shyne will at least now be able to resume his recording career free of the heavy weight of a five-year parole term resting on his shoulders. Unfortunately, ‘Po’s attorney does not have any information at this time to confirm or deny the rumor currently circulating about where Shyne will sign to begin recording again upon his October release.

“I have no information about a rumor that Jay-Z has gone to visit him,” said Michelen. “We’re all hearing all the same type of rumors, but I don’t really have any information that I can give on that. I mean, I guess that’s to be announced. If anything happens, it’ll happen…”

We at Hip Hop Spy cant wait until Shyne gets out and resumes his career , No Lollipop rap shit from PO. And for you Youngsters out there who dont know who Shyne is you need to Kill ya self !
