Eminems Music Publisher Sues Apple & Aftermath
According to Billboard, Eminem’s music publisher, Eight Mile Style is planning to sue both Apple and Aftermath Records for the unauthorized distribution of 93 of Em’s songs in downloadable formats via iTunes. The case, which was filed back in 2004, will go to trial on Thursday in Detroit if a settlement is not reached by Wednesday.
Eight Mile claims that Apple illegally made over $2.5 million from Eminem iTunes downloads, a bulk of which came from the 2002 smash single “Lose Yourself,” off of the “8 Mile” movie soundtrack. Not only does the publishing company demand money for the loss in royalties, they are also asking for a share in profits of Apple’s iPod sales.
In addition, Eight Mile Style alleges that Aftermath collected $4 million from Eminem’s music sales in partnership with Apple. Although Aftermath and Apple refute the accusations, showing court documents that suggest Aftermath owns the exclusive rights to Eminem’s master compositions, the publishing company believes it actually owns the rights to Em’s music.
This is not the first time Aftermath and Apple have had to go to court over licensing disputes. In 2007, Em’s producers, FTB Productions also filed suit against Aftermath for licensing Em’s music to Apple’s iTunes.
If the trial is taken to court, Eminem may act as a witness.

Eminem sent warning to Mariah Yesterday
Eminem has never been known for being afraid of beef. So, when Mariah Carey released “Obsessed,” a track that seemed as though it was geared towards the rapper, many thought a reply would come from the man behind this year’s Relapse. Time passed and MC dropped a video for her single, along with the visual of her in a costume made to look somewhat like Eminem. At least that’s what many speculated. Still, no word from Slim. But, with the release of “Warning,” all of that has changed.
“I’m obsessed now?/ Oh, gee that’s supposed to be me/ In the video, with the goatee?” Em raps on “Warning,” adding that they had a fling in the past, one that lasted for 6 months. “How many times you fly to my house?”
Em continues with lines warning her that he’d release compromising telephone conversations. “I’m mixing our studio session down and sending it to mastering to make it loud. Enough dirt on you to murder you,” he notes before saying he’ll release other material, too. “Mariah, it ever occur to you that I still have pictures?”
Not stopping at the R&B star, Em also said his warning applies to Nick Cannon, MC’s husband, who previously spoke on Em via blog. We at Hip Hop Spy will keep our eyes open for the pics or the video that is sure to surface Eminem rolls with 50 and we know how 50 put out Officer Rickys baby mama porno, im sure Eminem taped some of his exploits with Mariah. As far as Nick Cannon goes who even pays attention to that clown? The video track is on Thatcrack.com

This edition will feature a package with DJ Hero, a Renegade turntable controller and a turntable carrying case that opens up to become a performance-ready DJ stand. To go along with this, the pack will also feature a 2-CD pack which will contain unreleased Eminem and Jay-Z tracks. This will also include a case to be designed by artist Shepard Fairey.
According to a press release, this game is sure to excite many music lovers.
“DJ Hero delivers the most diverse and international collection of music ever assembled in a music game by incorporating anthems from legendary artists.”
In the game, players will be able to blend, scratch, cross fade and sample music.
Fans may recall that Jay and Em both appeared on stage to introduce DJ Hero earlier this year in Los Angeles. Both artists also hinted towards this Renegade Edition back in May. We at Hip Hop Spy dont know if this is good for Hip Hop but it might help some of the button pushing DJs out there who dont know the difference between a Technics 1200 and a Vestax QFO. This is what real turntables look like, why waste money on a video game when you can get a real turntable.
