Young Money’s Drake has announced plans to link with his boss, Lil Wayne, to begin work on an upcoming duet album, which makes him one of many artists planning full-length collaboration projects with the incarcerated rapper.

While details are still coming together, Drake said he spoke with Wayne about their collaboration project.

“I went up to Rikers, and me and Wayne agreed that there will be a Lil Wayne/ Drake album,” Drake told DJ Envy on MTV’s “Sucker Free.” ” There’s some things I’m excited for in my life I’m excited to go perform certain places but this project will probably be one of the most exciting things in my life, because we make music on a different level.

It’s just so fun, so comfortable. A whole album? To think about all the things we can do, especially if we’re gonna do 15 songs. Me and him don’t like to do 12, 13 [songs]. We want to do 15, 16. Yeah, Lil Wayne and Drake album.” Lil Wayne is still locked up in NY, after he gets released he has to face the charges in Arizona, and you know Arizona will give him a stretch in there outdoor jail.

Drake’s Album Pushed Back… Who Cares Monday ?

Even with the buzz surrounding him, not even Drake is immune to having his album pushed back.

The Toronto rapper/actor revealed that his album, Thank Me Later, wasn’t going to be hitting shelves for at least a few months. “Well I’m making great progress on it. I’m hoping for March now. It’s just pulling everybody together.”

Originally, the album was set to hit stores in January 2010, then was moved to Valentine’s Day (February 14). Among those Drake hopes to add to the album is singer Sade, who will be dropping her first album in eight years on Valentine’s Day.

“I had a wish list for my managers of everybody I wanted involved that stem beyond Hip Hop. I’m trying to pull it all together. I’m really trying to work with Sade. Lil Wayne will be on it. Young Jeezy, Jay-Z, Kanye will be doing work on it. It’s in the family.”

Drake disses Tupac in his song Fear and now Falls back

When Drake mentioned Tupac in his song, “Fear,” many thought the Young Money emcee was dissing the late West Coast legend – a claim Drake vehemently denies.

“I never cried when ‘Pac died/But I probably will when Hov does/And if my tears hold value, then I would drop one for every single thing he showed us/ And I’ll be standing in a puddle” are the rhymes in question, which raised much speculation on the young rapper’s intent.

Drake explained the lines to MTV News, saying, “A lot of people also sort of don’t understand the meaning of that line,. It’s not necessarily that I don’t love West Coast Hip Hop or that I don’t love ‘Pac now that I’m 22, but that line was just said to show how new I am to Hip Hop. And like I said, I was 9 when that happened, so it didn’t really affect me. But that song in general was just one of those things that took awhile to finish because it was an opportunity to say a lot of the things on my mind. That always feels good as a rapper, when you can get your thoughts out.”

Kia Shine Revealed as Drakes Ghostwriter

If you have listened to any Urban Radio station in the last 6 weeks then you have probably heard the tunes of new radio sensation Drake and his hit song, “Best I Ever Had”. Drake, whose real name is, Aubrey Drake Graham, transformed from TV actor into Hip Hop star almost over night. The transformation wasn’t, however, on his own skill. Former Motown/Universal Recording Artist Kia Shine was credited by BMI as the writer of the song that has now sold over a million copies. I spoke with Kia Shine this morning and he confirmed he was indeed the writer.

“They sampled a record that I did for Lil Wayne, called “Do it for the Boy”. I wrote the hook and the beat for that track. After they heard that and made the Drake song, they settled out for 25%”
It was also reported in the new Billboard Magazine that Nakia Coleman aka Kia Shine was indeed the writer of the hit song, “Best I Ever Had”.
Kia Shine who has been on top of the charts with his own song, “Krispy” which peaked at number 66 on the Billboard charts, is also credited with signing and promoting hip hop artist, Yo Gotti.
Kia Shine also known as Nakia Shine and Kinfolk Jones also stated, “The Drake thing is shedding some light on what I do and have done in this music business, people can see how astute I am in this music business.”
The hard work has definitely paid off Kia Shine, who is now scheduled to write for P.Diddy aka Sean Combs and will write on the new MC Lyte record. Kia Shine also has new video out, White Vees, with his new group The P.R.E.P.S.

Drake Refused Kanye West Offer to Remake Best I ever Had Video

Some fans liked it, some fans were scratching their heads after the debut of Drake’s “Best I Ever Had” video last month. Some in the blogosphere said the clip’s buxom female basketball team did nothing but cater to the male audience without matching the theme of the song; others just thought it wasn’t all that creative. And a couple of bloggers even went so far as to suggest that director Kanye West sabotaged Drake’s production.

MTV Shows

In fact, Drake told MTV News that West offered to shoot another video for the song, and he declined. He noted that receiving mixed reviews of his clip was a great lesson.

“That career move was very important to me,” he explained at the America’s Most Wanted Music Festival kickoff in Scranton, Pennsylvania. “We’ve done such a great job of building it all up. It’s kind of like people were getting this impression of me that I’m never gonna make a mistake. I’m not made of Teflon. I’m gonna do things for myself sometimes, as opposed to what people want me to do.”

Drake said the abundance of big-breasted women in the video didn’t put up any red flags that the video would offend anyone. He enjoyed the final cut of the video and thought it was right on point.

“If you listen to the song, I’m not saying the most graceful thing in the world. It’s not the most heartfelt song,” Drizzy continued. “I say some pretty wild things in regards to women in the actual song. When me and Kanye were in the studio working on a song for Big Sean, we were talking about it. We saw a comedic element to it. I felt that the climate in the world right now, everything in the world is so serious all the time, my life is serious, I just wanted to laugh, instead of taking myself too serious as the heartthrob and walking hand-in-hand into the movies and taking my shirt off. I felt it’s not that time for me yet. Or maybe never. I’m a very multifaceted person. One thing I told ‘Ye is, ‘I really want to act. I want to act in this video.’ ”

Kanye convinced him that the only way to be humorous was to go all the way with it and make it a full on funny video.

“I guess one thing I didn’t consider is what the song personally means to a lot of women,” Drake said. “To those women, I apologize. I do apologize. My intention wasn’t to put anyone down. It was to make them laugh. I wanted people to see something visually different.”

Don’t worry, Drake, judging by your reception at Monday’s AMW show, the fans still love you.
