Ozone awards are a Joke
The nominations for the 2008 Ozone/Tjdjs awards show were announced today and what a joke they are. I wont break down every category and their nominees I will just use a few examples to make my point. First of all let me tell you about Ozone magazine. Ozone magazine is run by a homely looking white woman named Julia Beverly.
She has built this small magazine up to be the number 1 underground hip hop magazine in the south. The magazine is full of pictures of major stars that she has taken mostly herself at every hip hop event in the south. there are a few articles in the magazine of no substance at all. She does not support Indie artists at all. Overall the magazine is a joke as well. Here is a little white woman that thinks she runs Hip hop in the south. Julia and TJ throw the awards show to make money on ticket sales to the event. Do not waste your money!! On to the nominations And the joke they are.

DJ Chuck T-Mr. Publicity, He leaked Lil Wayne tape so Julia and TJ boycotted him?
DJ Fade Cashville- Released some of the best Mixtapes ever this past year,His intros are the standard by which all other DJs should be measured.
DJ Technique-His mixtape series are highly coveted and followed
The Empire-His Drought is over series reached the far ends of the earth
I could go on and break down the whole nomination card but I cant stand it I just wanted to give a example of how fucked up and rigged these awards are. Do not waste your time on this show. And if you are not on the RIGGED nominations then you can still hold your head up high knowing that the Ozone awards are a total JOKE!!!!
I have had a heated exchange with Julia on more than one occasion, and I have the correspondence to prove it. She is such a wannabe who tries so hard to be something she is not, and tries to exploit Black artists all the time. I told her that her magazine was divisive, and trying to start fights among Black artists. The layout was sloppy and the photos were blurry and crappy. Her editiorals were the worst. She even backstabbed Elliot Wilson who gave her the publicity she craved by featuring excerpts from her magazine in XXL and spreading the word about Benzino’s beef with her (although Elliot was wrong for giving this witch shine), and that’s what paved the way for her to get advertisers and sponsors. If it wasn’t for him, she would still be that 5 X 5 black and white rag putting her crap on people’s car windshields.
that was the truest article i ever read on awards shows. i was at the ozone awards and it was the most hood a fied ,ghetto event i ever been to. make sure you never waste your money on a trash event like that.

I met Tj and Julia and they are cool peeps, but anyone in the industry knows that these award shows are rigged. Go to any independent magazines award show and notice how only the artist who have full page ads, and shit like that are the only ones who win. Just check past winners and past magazine issues and look for a winner who has not purchased advertising from such magazine.
You get a good promo package with the magazine before the awards and possibly a performance and you have a guaranteed win, unless your competition has purchased more ad space!!

I can’t disagree DJ Chuck T should be on this list look at his past work with Blood Raw and etc. He should have been on this list.
I most definately agree with this article without even barely reading it or doin’ the homework. We tried to coordinate with the Ozone Award officials to receive press passes to their event. Unfortunately they couldn’t even produce an itinerary more than 30 days before the Award show! How hood is that!! They need to be called the Ozone Hood Fest because the scene in Houston for this event is superfied ghetto, REAL TALK!!

man i have to agree with this completely. I been thinking the same thing since they started this show. SEA Awards are rigged as well I think. they had a whole bunch of nobodies win last year. Ozone mag sucks
DJ Nice shoud be on this list.Had two top selling mixtapes wit Joe Budden and Joell Ortiz.Got mixtapes wit every up and coming rapper who’s worth anything in the game right now.both mixtapes were feature on mtv mixtape monday.These other guys are HORRIBLE.The game sure has changed.

I wouldnt even think of giving them any hood credibility at all. some stars might show up but thats because its publicity and publicity leads to money.
