Nas and Kellis to Divorce
Rapper Nas and singer Kelis are headed for a divorce after less than six years of marriage.
“I can confirm that she has filed for divorce,” said a spokesperson for Kelis to VIBE magazine. “We request the media to respect her privacy during this very difficult time.”
Attorney Laura Wasser filed a divorce upon Kelis’ behalf, citing irreconcilable differences.This is despite the fact that the couple are expecting a son together.
It was noted in her divorce papers that Kelis, who is seven months pregnant, is due to deliver the child on July 21. “Yeah, man, I find out what it’s gonna be next week, so I’m happy,” said Nas to MTV News in February about having a child with the singer.
The two artists met in 2002 at an MTV Video Music Awards afterparty thrown by Sean “Diddy” Combs. After dating for almost two years, the two tied the knot in a small ceremony on July 28, 2003.

I was listening to “SHADE 45″ when I first heard about the incident. At first, I was devastated, but then I thought about how hard it must be to have a REAL, FAITHFUL, SECURE relationship when you’re an entertainer. It is known that in today’s world, 60% of marriages end up in a divorce. I heard that Nas had some “slide-offs” that he had been messing around with, but I also heard that Kelis was a whore. WHo’s to blame for this? I am really not certain, but I do know that— Marriage is a sacred entity, and in the vows— it specifically states: “For better, or for worse; in sickness and in health, TILL DEATH do you PART”… Many people don’t really realize that Marriage should not be taken lightly, and you should be absolutely sure that THIS is in fact the person that you want to be with Until death does you part.
On the other hand, I just don’t see how couples in the entertainment world make it anyhow with so much sleeping around going on, infidelity, unfaithfulness, envy, and deceit. I don’t understand the open marriages nor do I understand it when someone gets married and they still sleep around with someone else. Marriage is FREE SEX AT HOME WITH THAT ONE PERSON…. People don’t really realize that if they stayed at home, and slept with only THEIR SPOUSE then the rate at which DISEASES Are spreading would decrease. I am a CHristian, and I try my best to live by God’s Holy Word. Things won’t get better for people when they forget the reason that they are alive today.
Too much of the overall HEGEMONY in life is crafted by what someone says in the ENTERTAINMENT world. Get this: “That’s why it’s called ENTERTAINMENT, this is not how you should really live your life”. None of the Big stars can’t are not who wakes me up in the morning, nor do they take care of me! So why do we fashion our lives after theirs? They are humans just like us… I did not mean to RANT and rave, but it sickens me when people just take those things which are sacred and turn them into worldly follies…
America better turn back to GOd!
