Merriman tells his side of the incident with Skank Tila Tequila
As we reported earlier, San Diego Chargers Shawne Merriman was arrested for choking Skank Tila “Tequila” Nguyen. Our earlier story states deputies determined Tequila had been drinking.

Merriman said he did not assault Tila, rather he was trying to stop her from driving while intoxicated.
“I was trying to help her, not hurt her,” he said. “I’m still glad I did what I did.”
Merriman also disputes widely reported claims that Tequila is his girlfriend.
