R U Stupid? Self-snitching on the web

Days after Nazir Gary was shot to death on a Philadelphia street corner last December — and a month after he was charged along with a friend with robbing a man at gunpoint — his co-defendant Thomas posted a message on Gary’s MySpace page.

“I went to the court date yesterday. The bitchass NI99A (a witness against them) aint show up so thats a good thing. … In my eyes we still co-d’s [co defendants] … And I know things will go in our favor.” Two months after posting comments online about his court date, charges were filed against Thompson for intimidating and retaliating against a witness.

Many MySpace users list “Killadelphia,” as their hometown. Philli Criminal Intelligence Units say they are aware of the massive catalog of incriminating photographs and messages on social network profiles. MySpace says that it works with law enforcement agencies whenever its content will aid in a criminal investigation.
