Fat Joe gets Skinny after dropping 88 pounds

Fat Joe may need a new nickname after undergoing a serious slimdown in the last nine months.

The “Lean Back” rapper has sliced 88 pounds off his 6-foot-2, 350-pound frame – without popping a pill or jumping on a fad-diet bandwagon.

He took his battling skills from the stage to the scale after he lost seven friends in their 30s to heart attacks last year.

“What’s the difference between me and them? Health doesn’t discriminate just because I’m famous,” the plus-sized South Bronx native said yesterday.

He ditched half-chickens and pasta plates for six small daily meals of fruit, veggies, whole grains and lean meats.

The pounds started to drop after he combined two-hour cardio and weight-lifting sweat sessions with a trainer.

“I was always LL Cool J in a fat guy’s body,” cracked the “What’s Luv” rapper, who once topped the scales at 425 pounds but now hovers in the 265-pound range.

“They’re all trying to alter my name, but I can’t see myself as anything else,” he said, referring to friends who started calling him “Skinny Joe” and “Joey Flaco” (Spanish for “thin”). “I think I gotta ask Diddy what my new name is.”

Vanity didn’t factor into getting skinnier, he said, but his health and his 5-year-old daughter Azaryah did.

“I can’t leave my daughter behind,” he said. “I want to be here for her; I don’t want to die on her.”

The hip-hop heavyweight lost significant pounds in years past, but it always piled back on because he “wasn’t focused.”

“I’m addicted to food; I love food,” said Fat Joe, whose real name is Joe Cartagena. “It’s like a crack addict – he hits rock bottom and he says, ‘All right, forget it. I’m not going to get high anymore.’”

Did Audi steal Eminems ” Imported from Detroit Chrysler Ad”

It sure looks like Audi may have ripped off Eminem’s “Imported from Detroit” Chrysler ad in an Audi video that debuted May 18th at a press event in Berlin.

Eight Mile Style, the Ferndale company that handles song licensing for the Detroit rapper, alleges that this new Audi ad uses an unauthorized interpretation of Eminem’s song “Lose Yourself.”

The firm says the Audi spot even appears to borrow the same general themes from the Chrysler 200′s “Imported From Detroit” ad campaign, which uses “Lose Yourself” as its centerpiece and has been widely lauded for its uplifting portrayal of Detroit.

Eminem thinks so, and he’s taking his infringement claim to a German regional court. Somehow, “Imported from Germany” doesn’t have the same ring as Chrysler’s play.

Busta Rhymes cooks up new album

Busta Rhymes has put together a ”full course meal” for his ninth studio album.

Busta Rhymes has put together a “full course meal” on his new album.

The rapper’s comeback has seen him climb into the top ten of the US Billboard charts on ‘Look at me Now’ with Chris Brown and Lil Wayne, and he promises his ninth album will have a different “taste” to his previous work.

Busta said “There’s times when you gotta go back in the kitchen and find new seasonings to make the meat taste a little better when you feed the full course meal back to the streets.

“It was time for me to put together another full course meal that aint never been tasted the way this full course meal is gonna taste.”

The rapper – who’s new record is rumored to be a follow up to 1998′s ‘Extinction Level Event: The Final World Front’ – also said he feels “supreme” again and able to tackle sensitive subjects in his rhymes.

He added: “This is my s**t. I am back in a space where I can talk about the things I love to talk about and touch on things people are a little uncomfortable talking about and really expose the truths, and do it in a way where it’s so extremely entertaining. I feel supreme right now.”

Busta Rhymes’ as yet untitled album will be released in September.
