Soulja Boy Arrested?

Atlanta rapper Soulja Boy was arrested in Henry County on Wednesday night after he ran from police,  Capt. Jason Bolton said.

Soulja Boy was part of a video shoot at a house in McDonough, Bolton said. He took off running as a police officer walked up to the house — and was nabbed after he came back moments later, Bolton said.

He was part of a video shoot, others who were at the house told police.

The 19-year-old was charged with obstruction and bonded out of the Henry County jail on Thursday. A telephone call to his publicist was not immediately returned.

Bolton said an officer headed out to a house in McDonough around 9 p.m. after being told a group of people were hanging out there. The house was dark and looked abandoned, Bolton said.

The officer saw three women walking around the back of the house, Bolton said. He asked them to stop, and when they didn’t, the officer followed them around the back and found a larger group of people — about 40, Bolton said.

About half of the group took off, leaving several cars behind, and the other half stayed — and told the officer they were at the house “for a video shoot,” Bolton said.

Then a man — who police identified as Deandre Cortez Way — walked back to the house. He told the officer that he was the owner of one of the cars — a white Range Rover — and the officer arrested him, Bolton said.

“He just ran from the police, and then he decided to come back,” Bolton said.

Way, 19, better known as Soulja Boy Tell’em, was taken to jail. An officer said he was not there on Friday.

Soulja Boy, 19, broke into the music scene two years ago with his hit “Crank That (Soulja Boy). The artist also considers himself a producer and entrepreneur.

He is set to perform as part of the Sprite Step Off national step competition, held at Morehouse College, this weekend.

Kanye West, Soulja Boy To Produce For Each Others Albums

In what may seem like an unlikely pair, Kanye West and Soulja Boy are currently working on producing tracks for each other’s upcoming albums.

When he’s not touring on the “America’s Most Wanted Music Festival,” Soulja Boy has been working on creating tracks for Kanye’s fifth album.

“I’m working on Kanye’s next album right now. We working together on production because he makes beats and I make beats,” said the 19-year-old rapper. “Right now I’m remixing a couple of records for him.”

Soulja Boy isn’t coming away from the arrangement empty-handed, as Kanye is going to produce for him in return, contributing to Soulja Boy’s upcoming The DeAndre Way. “I’m actually working on [Kanye's] album while he’s working on my album.”

Last year, Kanye defended Soulja Boy when Ice-T criticized him infamously. “Soulja Boy is fresh as hell and is actually the true meaning of what hip-hop is supposed to be,” he blogged at the time. “He came from the ‘hood, made his own beats, made up a new saying, new sound, and a new dance with one song. If that ain’t hip-hop, then what is?”

Soulja Boy Twitter talk, meltdown or keepin it real?

Soulja Boy got real on Twitter about how being signed to a major label affected his music. The posts were promptly removed the next morning but we gotta give Soulja Boy some mad respect for keeping it real:

My music dream was THE SH*T 2 years ago before I was signed. It was everything I could ever imagine. Then I get signed. this is where my dream slowly died.. these c*****z wanna criticize a ni**a. I know what you thinking. But SOULJA BOY its the American dream your rich I would kill to be in your shoes. thats what you THINK its all BS! They say soulja boy u changed. soulja boy u hollywood I ain’t ask for this SHIT!!!!!! I want it to go back to how it was before i was signed I might be soundin crazy now.. I don’t really know about alot of things these days. But I just want EveryBODY to know this sh*t. Just KNOW that i’m only 18 man… And it’s only so much I can do. It’s only so much I can take. If your really fans and love and support me. You would hear me out and help ya boy get thru this sh*t.. I know everybody is gonna have opinions on the things that i’m saying right now.. but there it is. I’m not perfect.

A lot of people talking about what I twittered the other night…so I want to address it, now that I have had some time to do some thinking. At 18 years, having grown up in the Mississippi Delta, I never thought my life would take me to where I am now. All I wanted to do was make music. All I thought I loved was music. I would die for that motherfuckin music. But, once I got a record deal and all these people around me trying to tell me who to be, what to do and how to do it, I realized that I wasn’t making music any more for the love. I got into this weird place where I began making music for the money. And I was making a lot of money…more money than I could ever imagine. And with that money, of course, I could buy a lot of things…but to be honest, you can only drive that brand new phantom around the corner oh so many times… and when you are done driving, it really don’t mean shit. I thought money was gonna bring me happiness. And that is the farthest thing from the truth. Money fucks you up.

I know I might sound crazy, because a lot of you who are reading are probably like, I wish I had this nigga’s money. But, the truth is that money got me twisted. All I want to do is go back to making music for the love of it. The accolades and the awards are for everyone else. The music is for me. The music is my happiness. So, of course I am struggling in my mind right now…cause I wanna get back to place where I woke up, thinking about what I was gonna write that day. Where I went to sleep ready to dream about what I was gonna write the next day.

I know my fans. And I know they will understand this. This ain’t got nothing to do with y’all. Oh yeah… sorry to all my white peeps out there. I’m not racist But I guess time will heal all wounds…

I Saw Soulja Boy on BET Awards and He Sucked so bad I had to turn the Channel

I never watch awards shows because they are all rigged and so commercial. But I thought I would watch what BET had planned to honor Michael Jackson and I couldnt make it past the Soulja Boy set, before I turned the channel. Soulja Boy was so wack its upsetting to me to see what commercial hip hop fans have embraced. I saw Soulja Boy go in the audience and give Kanye West some Dap and I saw nobody behind him hardly out of there seats. I dont even know why I wrote this post but to say Hip Hop that is in the mainstream is completely fucked up. You Got Jamie Foxx giving props to Drake a dude who doesnt have nothing out but a few tracks and now he is the chosen one? Nah he aint put in any work , he isnt on 1000 mixtapes , he got the streets on fire I dont think so? Hip Hop is getting worse everyday, its no wonder all the record labels are folding up and nobody buys CDs anymore. You have multiple trash blogs which I wont mention contantly riding these commercial dudes nutsacks ,while at the same time turning there backs on the Indie artists out there grinding super Hard. Thats all I got to say on the Subject, if you dont like what I said you can eat a dick straight up with bumps on ya lips.
