8 People Shot at Waka Flocka show in Gary Indiana
On Friday, a performance by the Gucci Mane protégé and So Icey signee, at the World of Skates in Gary, Indiana, ended in gunfire. Flame, whose real name is Joaqin Mulphers, was not hurt.
A group of youth ages between the ages of 14 and 18 were shot after someone in the crowd opened fire in the parking lot of the establishment. No life threatening injuries were reported. The melee happened after one of the rapper’s hype men pitted rivals against each other by shouting out, “East Side vs. West Side,” at the beginning of the show. There have been no arrests.
The day before the show, Mulphers was involved in an altercation in downtown Atlanta outside of the legendary Walter’s Clothing athletic apparel shop. Associates of Gucci Mane and Young Jeezy were part of the fight. Mulphurs received a black eye; giving new life to what many in the hip-hop community believed was a resolved conflict between Gucci and Jeezy.
In January, Mulphers survived a robbery and shooting in College Park. He believes that he was being targeted due to his newfound fame and seemingly rapid rise in Atlanta’s music scene. No arrests were made in the shooting.
